Why I Own 14 Copies of Dragon Warrior (And Counting)

Have you ever loved a thing so much you bought it every time you came across it? Probably not. That doesn't seem to be a very common thing that normal people do. Well, I own 14 copies of Dragon Warrior and counting, and by my own admission, that's not a normal thing to do. Maybe we should talk a bit about that today.

Great Game Music You've (Maybe) Never Heard Before

There's a ton of really great video game music out there, but a lot of it is hidden away in the least likely of places. Today I have compiled a list of 50 (!) songs from various games that you've maybe never heard before. Here you'll find no Castlevania, no Final Fantasy, and certainly no Streets of Rage. Instead, what you'll find are some deep cuts and surprising jams from games you've potentially never even played before.

How I Got Into Collecting Video Games

In the past I have gone into detail about my origins with video games, so this article isn't about that. Instead, this article is about how I got into collecting video games and what the climate was like at the time I started. Maybe it'll be mildly interesting to look back on it. Let's find out!

Walkthrough: Castlevania II - Simon's Quest

It's a game notorious for its difficulty. A game people today declare impossible to finish without a guide due to "bad game design." A game full of nonsense advice and hints given by characters in game that will leave players scratching their head more than solving riddles.

I am, of course, referring to Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It's time for a new walkthrough.

Wizards & Warriors Quadrilogy

I've been playing some Wizards & Warriors lately, so I thought maybe I would share a bit of info about each game in the series. There's no real reason for this article to exist other than... well, I just want to talk about Wizards & Warriors!

Walkthrough: Zelda II - The Adventure of Link

With the arrival of the new Mini NES console, people all over will be able to play classic NES games from their youth or, in some cases, for the first time ever. One of the games contained on the console is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, a game which I feel is unfairly criticized online for its crushing difficulty and the admittedly different direction the game takes compared to the rest of the series.

With this walkthrough, I am going to try to give newcomers an edge and take them through the game in a way that hopefully cuts the difficulty down dramatically. Even if you're not a newcomer to the game, this guide might help you enjoy the game a bit more.

Spotlight: Ironsword - Wizards & Warriors II

Today I'm going to talk a bit about a fantastic NES game! The Wizards & Warriors series has always been fairly popular, but this one gets a lot of attention because of our good friend Fabio up there. There's more to love about this game, though!

The (Not So) Terrible Twos

Zelda 2:  The Adventure of LinkCastlevania 2:  Simon's QuestSuper Mario Bros. 2.  All three of these NES games have a bad rap among gamers, but at their core, they're really not bad games!  In fact, these three games are my favorite entries in their respective series on the NES!

It's a rare occurrence for me to find an NES game I need.  By need, I mean one I don't already own.  Today I found something!  Quick blog time.

Because no one demanded it!  It's a hyper interesting look at label design uniformity among publishers on the NES!  Trust me, this two part feature is not to be missed.

Spotlight: Metal Storm

Metal Storm kicks off a new feature called Spotlight.  This is one of my favorite games for the NES, so I think it will be a good candidate to start with!  These aren't reviews... these are Spotlights!
